SUZUKI HAVE A LEGACY OF PROVIDING A WIDE GAMUT of products in India. From economical commuters to sizzling superbikes, the Japanese brand has it all available here. Satoshi Uchida has had a long association with Suzuki motorcycle divisions worldwide. His 30 years of association with the auto industry saw tenures at Suzuki France, where he was VP, sales, for 10 years starting 1998. After this he took over as president, Suzuki Philippines from 20082013, taking the brand to a 50 per cent growth in the country in 2010. Most recently, he was CEO at Thailand Suzuki Motors from 2013, before making the switch to India as MD in April 2016. In his current role, Uchida san is in charge of business strategy and leads the firm from the front.

Since joining a few short months ago, Uchida san has already introduced an updated version of the brand’s premier scooter offering in the Access 125. Apart from this, he has also raised the profile for the brand and its deep ties with motor sport with the inception of the Gixxer Cup One-make Race Championship. He also introduced the concept of Gixxer Days, a celebration of all things Gixxer, Suzuki’s popular 155- cc sporty commuter. On the big bike front, Suzuki recently announced that their famous hyperbike, the Hayabusa, would be brought in as a completely knocked down (CKD) unit and assembled in India, another initiative under Uchida san’s stewardship.
