SPARK-PLUG
Igniting the air-fuel mixture is the job of the spark-plug. A standard plug has one ground electrode for the high-voltage spark to jump across, igniting the air-fuel mixture surrounding it. Optimum use of every drop of fuel by means of cleaner and more complete combustion is always a priority because it not only leads to more power and performance but also better fuel consumption and lower emissions. Sparkplugs are essentially of two types: hot grade and cold grade. Hot-grade plugs are used on low-speed, low-compression engines. Cold-grade plugs are used in high-speed, high-compression engines and are thus subjected to higher operating temperatures necessitating the use of high-grade materials, such as iridium for the centre electrode and an embedded platinum chip in the ground electrode.
