CARBURETTOR
It is a device that blends air and fuel to feed to an internal combustion engine. The carburettor is primarily gravity-fed, but there are instances of fuel-pumps being employed for fuel delivery to the carburettor at low pressure. The optimal air-fuel mixture is 14 parts air to one part fuel, also called the ‘stoichiometric ratio’. Furthermore, as a bike moves to a higher altitude, its engine will need less fuel to compensate for the drop in air density. Fuel injection systems controlled by the ECU meter the fuel dynamically, while carburettors will need to be adjusted manually.
