WIDE-BAND LAMBDA SENSOR

-

The wide-band lambda sensor, also known as a wideband oxygen sensor, is a planar ZrO2 dual cell limiting current sensor with an integrated heater. It is used to measure the oxygen content and the -value of exhaust gases. The output signal is an analogue voltage, which depends linearly on the oxygen concentration of the exhaust gas and will be converted into the normalised air-fuel ratio. The measurement range is = 0.7 – ∞ (= ambient air with 21 per cent oxygen). Unlike the switching type Lambda sensor, the wide-band lambda sensor provides an exact value of which aids finer fuel control and on-board diagnostics.
