ABS for Continental GT
IN A BID TO MAKE THINGS SAFER FOR THEIR riders, Royal Enfield are currently testing the Continental GT with ABS brakes. The tests are being conducted in Europe right now; however, this also indicates that ABS will also make its way to the Continental bikes being sold in India. The bike is expected to be launched with ABS in India this year. We also expect Royal Enfield to equip their entire line-up with ABS since the mandate to make ABS compulsory on all bikes with 125 cc and above will come into force starting later this year.
In other news, Royal Enfield are also working on a bigger motorcycle which is supposedly going to be powered by a 750- to 800-cc paralleltwin motor. The company is currently testing the bike in Europe. The frame of the bike looks like that of the Continental GT. In the spied photos of the test mule, however, the engine placement seems to be lower than any other Enfield in the market currently, which should make the bike handle better.
