Bike India

Sunny days for Indian motorcycling

-

I am a big fan of Bike India. Acquisition of marques like the iconic JAWA and the legendary BSA by Mahindra is a matter of prestige and pride. BSA was once the world’s largest bike manufacturer. M&M should clearly capitalize on the pedigree by making classic looking bikes infused with modern technology. Moreover, to build the image of these brands once again mid-sized twins should be produced instead of same old singles. Another bit of a pleasant surprise is Kawasaki’s decision to finally bring the W800 to India. If priced sensibly the W800 could lock horns with Bonneville Twins. Sunny days may be here for Indian motorcycling.

Hello Pashupathi,

We too are looking forward to what Mahindra will do with the big acquisitions of BSA and Jawa with intrigue and anticipation. As you mentioned, retro styled bikes with modern moving parts are a popular genre, and Mahindra definitely have the potential on their hands to capitalise on this. As for the Kawasaki W800, will the bike generate enough interest in showrooms across India to convince the Japanese brand to introduce the bike on our shores? We certainly hope so.
