UNSPRUNG WEIGHT

-

It is the combined weight of the components of a motorcycle not ‘sprung’ or supported by the suspension system. It includes wheels and tyres, brake rotors, callipers, bearings, hubs, rear sprocket, axles and parts of the suspension setup. The use of twin brake rotors instead of one large rotor is more beneficial to handling as it reduces the gyroscopic effect of the rotor. The unsprung weight together with the sprung weight and all fluids make up the kerb weight of the vehicle.
