H-D Breakfast Ride

We linked up with the Two Rivers Harley-Davidson chapter of the Harley Owners Group (H.O.G) in India for a chilled out Breakfast Ride from Pune to Mulshi

A quick jaunt out of town with the H.O.G.s

IARRIVE AT CHANDANI CHOWK in Pune at 6.00 am on a Sunday; typically something I would have spent the rest of the story grumbling about. The fact that I arrived on an H-D Fat Boy draped in tangerine and chrome had a definite calming effect on me, though. There were already a couple of Iron 883s and Forty-Eights about, and the air was repeatedly rent with the gurgles and burbles in that distinct note of potato-potato that is instantly identifiable as a Harley as more and more bikes joined in every minute. By 6.30 am there were already more than a few riders assembled on everything from the Street 750 to the Street Glide Special in attendance. All told, about 20-odd people (including a pair of pillions) had set off and were thundering down the road towards Basho’s Restaurant and Resort.

The ride was great, the people more so. As bikers it isn’t difficult to find topics of conversation with kindred spirits like these members of H.O.G, and their knowledge about bikes, particularly Harleys made for some fun chats. We also held long and interesting discussions about accessories and customisation options for the H-Ds which was entertaining and informative at the same time, held over plates of omelettes and sandwiches and washed down with piping hot cups of coffee and tea. Soon enough it was time to depart, but not before we held a moment of silence in memory of one of the Two Rivers H.O.G riders fallen brethren, Anand Pawar.

All in all, I had a blast being an honorary H.O.G member for a day. It’s great to see the Two Rivers dealership make such an active effort in bringing like-minded Harley owners together for these rides. I hope to ride with this great bunch again in the future.
