Fast Freddie’s Autobiography Released

-

FREDDIE SPENCER, A LEGENDARY MOTORCYCLE RACING CHAMPION, has penned his autobiography, entitled Feel: My Story. The American motorcycling icon talks about growing up in an era when racial discrimination was at its height in the USA and how he judged people by feel and not their colour. Spencer also mentions how his life on the track helped him understand things better after retiring from racing.

Fast Freddie also writes about his racing days that were filled with thrill and horror, the on-track rivalry with another American icon, King Kenny Roberts, and the journey of self-exploration.

The three-time Grand Prix champion has a number of accolades to his name, including the title of youngest ever Grand Prix champion for three decades. Spencer is also one of the rare racers to have won two championships in the same year in two different classes (250 and 500 cc).

“For the first time I will talk about the traumas of my childhood, the contrast between the leaf fire burns, the mistrust and discomfort and the peace and purpose I felt when riding my bike. I didn’t tell my parents about something that happened to me. Why? I felt ashamed, but when I rode I felt connected to everything and the pain in my hand and heart would go away. It gave me the feeling of hope,” says Spencer about his book.

Incidentally, Fast Freddie was featured on the cover page of Bike India (March 2017 issue) and expressed his happiness on Twitter.
