AIR-COOLED ENGINE
An engine that relies on the natural flow of air for its cooling requirements is an air-cooled engine. Lower-capacity engines revving to about a peak 8,000 rpm make do with air cooling with the cylinder’s exterior using fins that assist with heat dissipation. The wider the fins, the more effective the cooling. The combustion chamber is built to handle extreme temperatures but the engine still needs to run as cool as possible before its tolerances get the better of it.
