It was at the beginning of the 2016 racing season that honda introduced races for ladies amid much speculation that these girls were not tough enough to withstand the rigours of the racetrack. we are happy to report that after two seasons of racing, a few crashes and some stiff competition, these young ladies have proved the naysayers wrong and themselves worthy of this great sport. here is what transpired at the last honda ladies race of 2017.

Chennai girls, and good friends off the track, ryhana Bee and shruthi nagarajan started the fivelap race at P1 and P3 respectively, with Indore’s Kalyani Potekar between them at P2. ryhana led off the line, while behind her shruthi and Kalyani fought for second place. shruthi soon passed Kalyani and was hot on ryhana’s heels when, on the fourth lap, ryhana succumbed to the building pressure and ran

wide, slipping into third place as both shruthi and Kalyani zoomed past. with one lap to go, ryhana put the hammer down and was able to reclaim second place from Kalyani on the last corner of the race to cross the line just two-tenths of a second behind race winner shruthi. ryhana also set the fastest lap of the race (2:14.829), but had to be satisfied with a second-place finish, while Kalyani crossed the line in third.

we look forward to seeing more of these gutsy gals as they get faster and faster in the coming seasons.
