Leslie Porterfield

-

A speed demon on two wheels, Leslie Porterfield is the reigning queen of the Salt Flats. That isn’t an empty boast either, because she has the records to prove it. Porterfield blitzed the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2008 when she achieved a land speed record of 374 km/h in the 2,000cc modified class, making her way into the Guinness Book of World Records as the ‘Fastest Woman in the World on a Motorcycle’. The title was previously held for over 30 years by Marcia Holley, motocross rider and stunt woman, who had attained a top speed of 369.12 km/h (229.361 mph) astride a single-engine streamliner motorcycle in 1978.

Porterfield was also honoured as the AMA Female Rider of the Year. Among her many achievements she has been featured in the Discovery channel documentary, Speed Capital of

the World: Bonneville. Not only is she ridiculously quick, she’s also a woman of many talents. She is a member of the prestigious Bonneville 200 MPH Club and runs High Five Cycles, a used motorcycle dealership in Dallas, US. She is also a public speaker and an advocate and role-model for the rising population of woman riders.

Porterfield will also be present at the IBW and, with two biking superstars of such a great stature making their appearance, this is one event that no true-blue Indian motorcycle fan will wish to miss out on.

Passes for the fifth edition of this massive festival are already on sale at just Rs 1,750 for both the days. The legends will be there, Bike India will be there, and so will be over 20,000 passionate bikers. See you in Goa!
