A factory seat is up for grabs at KTM Factory Racing as Johann Zarco chooses to move on

ForMer MoTo2 worlD champion Johann Zarco will part ways with the KTM factory racing MotoGP team at the end of this season. speaking to the media, the frenchman revealed that he knew he was capable of challengin­g at the front and it was an issue of morale. following his strong qualifying position and frontrow start at the Czech Grand Prix in Brno, he finished lower down the order in 14th place. he managed 12th in austria at KTM’s home race at the red Bull ring. Zarco’s announceme­nt came a few days after KTM began looking at options for their B-team Tech 3 racing.

Brad Binder will be making the move from Moto2 to MotoGP with Tech 3 KTM next season and that means that Malaysian rider, hafizh

syahrin, has to look at his options; including a potential move to Moto2. south african Binder was meant to partner with Miguel oliveira, the second Tech 3 KTM rider who has impressed this year, but now the dice has rolled yet again. KTM test rider, Dani Pedrosa, declined he would come out of retirement and be on the competitiv­e racing side and would only continue with testing duties. Mika Kallio, too, is on testing duties and there is no more informatio­n on that front. so, there goes the rumour mill. will Miguel oliveira, the only KTM rider not to come off a Tech 3 yamaha yZr-M1 thus far, get the factory seat vacated by Zarco? will syahrin stay? will Jorge Martin or iker lecuona get a call soon? we’ll just have to wait and see.

KTM further announced that they would be exiting Moto2 as a chassis maker and shift focus to the premier class and on rider developmen­t. furthermor­e, their Moto3 challenge will now don husqvarna branding as their subsidiary aims to make a mark in global markets.
