The MOTOGP Curtain Down

MotoGP just went through its final race of the season. Here is what happened

- Report: Zal Cursetji

VALENCIA IS THE LAST round of MotogP. this year all the championships have already been won in all classes. hence, we should expect the riders to test themselves and their machines for the next season. here is all that went down. in addition, Jorge lorenzo announced his retirement from MotogP. we surely will miss him.

MotoGP

fabio Quartararo on the Petronas Yamaha Srt bike and Jack Miller on the Pramac racing ducati got off to a great start in Valencia. Champion Marc Marquez on his repsol honda had a slower start and was now in fourth, behind the Suzuki ecstar rider, Alex rins. Soon, though, the world champion did start to make his way up the order, getting the better of all, and was now once again on the rear wheel of Quartararo.

Quartararo and Marquez started to pull away from the rest with the latter still on the rear wheel of the frenchman, but, once he made his move, all we were left with was the Marquez show. Marc now ran away, keeping a healthy lead all the way to the finish-line. in second was Quartararo and then the Aussie, Miller, Andrea dovizioso on the ducati team bike, and Alex rins. this group broke away from the rest of the grid and all showed potential for podium places.

Crashes were quite a common sight this time in Valencia. the most notable one involved MotogP debutant iker lecuona on the red Bull tech 3 KtM and Johann Zarco on the lCr honda idemitsu. As Zarco went down, he started to sprint towards his bike but was dramatically taken out by lecuona’s rC16 that crashed soon after his. Scary, but, luckily, Zarco came out unscathed.

At the front, the race behind Marquez began to look quite good. Quartararo held on to second but it did seem like Jack Miller would catch him. not this time, though. the final race of the season saw Marquez, Quartararo, and Miller make up the podium.

with this win, Marquez has raced 19 races this season, been on the podium 18 times, and has 12 victories to his credit. incredible.

we also said goodbye to a legend. Jorge lorenzo of repsol honda announced his retirement from MotogP. we shall speak a little more about the five-time world champion later, but, for now, thank you, Jorge.

Moto2

thomas luthi on the dynavolt intact gP bike rode a stellar race from the beginning, leading the pack for most of the time. however, Brad Binder on the red Bull KtM Ajo had other ideas and put pressure on the Swiss man throughout. Binder finally got the better of luthi and claimed a well-deserved win.

the fight for third was also quite intense, with Jorge navarro in the MB Conveyors Speed Up bike fighting off a resilient Stefano Manzo on the MV Agusta temporary forward motorcycle to take third place.

the Moto2 champion, Alex Marquez, was in fifth place before going for a tumble towards the end. this caused the champion to finish the last race of the season in last place. oh, well, he still is the world champion, though.

Moto3

Moto3, as usual, was a crazy affair. however, the regular names were missing from the podium. this time we saw Sergio garcia on the estrella galicia bike claim the victory.

he was followed by Andrea Migno on the Mugen race motorcycle and the final place went to the sensational wildcard Xavier Artigas on the leopard impala Junior team bike.

tatsuki Suzuki continued his decent form, coming in fourth place once again, but Valencia was not too kind to lorenzo dalla Porta of leopard racing and 2019 Moto3 champion as he finished quite low down the order.
