Bike Lying Idle Due to Various Problems

-

I hail from Jharkhand and I own a Bajaj Pulsar 200NS (2012 model). I have been facing some problems for a long time and would like to hear your suggestions on the same.

1. There’s a minute hole near the left-side spark-plug which leaks coolant when the engine is running. I suspect this to be a manufacturing defect because this problem surfaced only a few months after I began riding the new bike. It was fixed using a mix of locally available glue which worked for a few years but the issue has resurfaced now. Would a weld fix it or should I replace the whole block (picture attached)?

2. The rear tyre leaks air along the edge of the rim. I took the tyre off and remounted it once but the problem persists. It is a relatively new tyre.

3. The chain clatter is irritating and the chain itself tends to become slack soon after tightening.

My bike has been lying idle for months now due to these problems. Please help me.

Tariq Aziz, by email Dear Tariq,

Regarding the problem of coolant leakage, it would be better if you could send us a picture taken from a point slightly further away, so that we may take a better look and advise you accordingly. As for the tyre leak, the tyre’s bead gets damaged when a tyre iron is not used properly while changing a tyre. Even the smallest issue like a crack, scratch or dented section can cause a leak. There are two fixes. Either pinpoint the issue, fill it up with m-seal and then sand it down to smoothness or just use the tyre with a tube. Regarding the chain, make sure you lube it regularly and don’t overtighten it. Overtightening the chain can cause a lot of issues and damage, so make sure to tighten it to the right level and lubricate it regularly for optimal performance.
