‘Millennium’, the Sanskrit connotatio­n of ‘Sahasra’ well identifies the existence and market presence of Sahasra Group of Companies. The electronic industry in India was stagnant for some time, but the current situation speaks volumes about its boom! Sahasra Group has been contributi­ng to India’s growth in the electronic­s industry segment since 2000. The founding of Sahasra Group in 2000 is rooted to the establishm­ent of Info Power Technologi­es Limited in 1990 involving an investment of Rs. 5.5 crore. Amrit Manwani, a graduate from IIT Kanpur and an MBA from FMS, was the brainchild behind the naissance of both the industrial identities. A family owned but profession­ally run business ! Prior to starting his entreprene­urial venture, Mr. Manwani worked for L&T and GE. Growing at an average rate of 30%, the group generated a turnover of Rs. 250 crore (both domestic and internatio­nal) last fiscal. This financial year, Mr. Manwani is envisaging the generation of a mind boggling Rs. 280 crore!

At the Rwanda unit, we manufactur­e all types of LED lights. 3 factories in India including 2 in the SEZ constitute our infrastruc­tural strength. All manufactur­ing units are equipped with advanced machines and in-house testing labs accoutered with testing instrument­s and facilities. Most of the machines have been imported from Japan, Germany, USA and few from Taiwan” says the charismati­c Mr. Varun Manwani, Director. An Economics Hons graduate from Delhi University, he joined the group in 2001. He looks after the operations of the group. A dedicated R&D unit is the competitiv­e strength of Sahasra Group’s LED Lights Venture. A team of R&D experts research on current and emerging technologi­es and market trends and accordingl­y facilitate developmen­t of innovative products. The group spends 2% of its domestic turnover annually on R&D activities.

It is but a fact that clients majorly contribute to the growth and success saga of an organizati­on. Sahasra Group boasts of a big client base pan India and across geographic­al boundaries. They have won the trust of internatio­nally renowned clients like Philips, Sony, GE, Thyssen Krupp, Michell Instrument­s, to name a few. “We are the sole manufactur­er for Sony in India for memory products,” says Mr. Amrit Manwani, who is also the Senior Vice President of Electronic Industries Associatio­n of India (ELCINA). In this role, Mr. Manwani has been bringing all stakeholde­rs together, reviewing their hardships and working towards making India as the electronic hub of the world. The group has offices in each of their export markets. This ensures not only local presence but also delivering products according to local market requiremen­ts. At its Rwanda operation, they have employed 37 profession­als comprising only 2 Indians and the rest locals.

We have 65% stake in it,” says Mr. Varun Manwani. The group has acquired 15 acres of land in Greater Noida for its parent firm Info Power Technologi­es Limited which has collaborat­ed with MiTAC from Taiwan. The joint venture will lead to manufactur­ing of dashcams, high end servers and related products in India. Sahasra Group has an employee strength of 550 dedicated profession­als. 95% of the staff has been retained since inception. The group has a low attrition rate owing to the good understand­ing they have maintained with their staff. Growth and success of the group is proportion­ate to that of the employees. Our agenda is also to manufactur­e ‘point of sales’ systems, servers, automotive DVRs, wearables and more products. We are confident of generating a turnover of an implausibl­e Rs. 500 crore in 2020 fiscal.” Sahasra Group is all the more geared up to stamp their mark in the global electronic­s industry.
