Rajeev Gandhi Computer Saksharta Mission (RGCSM)

- By Our Correspondent

Chairman, RGCSM

Working towards educating classes and masses is always an activity full of honour. This task becomes all the more noteworthy and full of humility if it is done not for raking in money and motive for oneself but for providing high quality education at cost-effective rates. Such work takes on the role of noble work, in a sense. This is the case with the Rajeev Gandhi Computer Saksharta Mission. The primary aim of this organisation is to offer higher technical education at reasonable costs all across the length and breadth of the country (22 states, to be precise at the present moment) in rural as well as urban areas. The mission is run by the Shri Rajeev Gandhi Computer Saksharta Society. As per Dr. K.P. Singh, chairman of the Mission, this Society is certified by ISO 9001: 2008. It is also connected with and has tie-ups and collaborations with a number of organisations. Some of these are the UP Electronic Corporation Ltd. (UPLC), Planning Commission of Govt. of India, National Skill Development Corporation of Govt. of India, New Delhi, National Skill Development Authority (NSDA), Govt. of India., New Delhi, Retailers Association Skill Council of India (RASCI), Mumbai, Telecom Sector Skill Council of India, New Delhi, National Digital Literary Mission, Tata Consultancy Services, West Bengal State Rural Development Agency , Rajasthan Skill & Livelihoods Development Corpora-tion(RSLDC), Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission(UPSDM), Uttarakhand Skill Development Mission (UKSDM), Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM), Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development (PBSSD), Maulana Azad National Academy for skills(MANAS), an autonomous organization of National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, etc. The training which is provided by the Society is in software, hardware and networking, accounts, information technology and ITES, skill development and other

related arenas. This Society has been functioning since the past twenty two years and has about 2500 Authorized Study Centers (ASCs). This organization adheres to the motto of ‘Information & Technology for all’ slogan of the government of India for honing the skill base of about 22 lakh people required in IT field and of more than ten lakh skilled employees needed as ancillary workers in industries and small scale units of the country. Actually speaking, private institutions too offer courses in computers but these are at very high rates. Thus, they are out of reach of the middle and lower class societies of our country. This Mission, on the other hand, provides value for money and a good base in computers and related fields to students from all sections of our society. Incidentally, this society is very aptly named after our late Prime Minister, Mr. Rajiv Gandhi, who heralded the information technology revolution in the country. Some of the courses offered by this mission include Advanced Diploma in Computer Application, Diploma in Computer Application, Diploma in Office Automation & Publishing, Advanced Diploma in Computer Programming, Certificate course in Desk Top Publishing, Certificate course in Computer Accounting, post graduate diploma in Computer Application, Diploma in Computer application and designing, diploma in computer application and accounting and a certificate course in Autocad. This mission caters to the information technology education requirements of a whopping 45,000 students all over India. It is also a fact that this mission has earned lots of accolades for the good quality education it imparts to those who enrol here. No wonder, the Rajeev Gandhi Computer Saksharta Mission is all set to scale further heights and conquer more horizons in its field of operations.
