WHAT’S ON RECORD ON KASHMIR

-

Home Minister Rajnath Singh in the Rajya Sabha: We will correct the youth of Kashmir if he is going in a wrong direction. As far as Pakistan is concerned, it is behaving very irresponsibly. No one should worry about the Muslims of India, except Indians. We will worry about our Muslims. India has the potential to become a superpower if it stands united. The country belongs to everyone present in Parliament.

▪Ghulam Nabi Azad (Congress) in the Rajya Sabha: It took us (the Congress government) and other governments 70 years to try and bring peace to Kashmir. We had a healing touch policy towards people, but this government makes no difference between treating common people and militants. No country is using pellet guns. Hundreds of people were injured and children lost their sight because of the use of pellet guns. Can the government try to get these people treated?

Pramod Tiwari (Congress) in the Rajya Sabha: What is the reason that you back down in front of terrorists? Narendra Modi went to Pakistan and met Nawaz Sharif and touched his feet. Where exactly are you going with your policy towards Pakistan?

▪Bhagwant Mann (Aam Aadmi Party) in the Lok Sabha: If we can cut a cake on Nawaz Sharif’s birthday, we can sit and talk to Kashmiris too. Issues like Ghar Wapsi and Rohith Vemula have led us here. Politics of hate should be stopped. Our party is secular, it believes in peace.

▪Muzaffar Beigh (Peoples Democratic Party) in the Lok Sabha: A Kashmiri is as good as Indian as Rajnath Singh. Burhan Wani was not Osama bin laden. Police could have arrested him any time. He was not a ghost. The government of India should introspect in its own interest. Terrorism has become a business.
