Much water under the bridge

-

Last Friday, Gurgaon, on the outskirts of Delhi, came to a standstill when heavy rains clogged most major roads connecting it to the capital. As political parties traded charges over the traffic mess, Twitter users found reasons to humour each other. One Aditi Awasthi posted: “Millennium city, once you come here during rains, you will stay here for another millennium.” Kedar Joshi made some quick calculations. “If the INC government had constructed 0.30 lanes for every year ruled, Gurugram would have had 10 lane roads today,” he projected. Amit Singh pointed out: “5,000 years ago Mohenjo-daro had better drainage system than what our 21st century Gurgaon has today.”
