India's dismal results in Olympics has put the focus on the country's sports administra­tion. Most sports federation­s/associatio­ns are run without any proper governance structures. Politics and conflicts of interests are rampant. Bengaluru-based corporate governance firm Ingovern Research studied the structure and financial details of 27 sports bodies, including the Indian Olympic Associatio­n. It has called for enhanced governance standards that would lead to greater involvemen­t of all stakeholde­rs, greater funding and better performanc­e. While the BCCI made an income of ~ 1,266 cr, none of the bodies analysed crossed ~100 cr. Hockey India topped the chart at about ~94 crore. Some numbers from the report:
