Bank of India (NBG-Central) Manager Dixit enters Limca Book of Records 2017

Vinod Chandrashe­khar Dixit a Journalist, writer & cartoonist is a man of letters--a great many letters. He is India’s most prolific letter writer - began writing letters to newspapers in 1984 to voice his anger against social evils. By his count, the 52-yearold Manager in Bank of India (NBGCentral) Ahmedabad has had more than 6000 letters to the editor published in more than 300 newspapers over the last 33 years. Dixit is a known personalit­y for readers of newspapers in India for his ‘Letters to Editors’ taking up causes of national and public interest by writing letters to newspapers. Writing letters has been an addiction for Dixit. His passion for writing in newspapers made his name included in Limca Book of Records 2017 for most letters to editors in a month and Longest word letter to press by an individual published in newspapers. He has entered Limca Book with his most No. of 174 letters published in a month & longest letter worded 1146 after breaking the record of 115 most letters in a month and 960 worded letter of a prolific writer Mahesh Kapasi from New Delhi. He has a vast collection of letters received from authoritie­s on high posts acknowledg­ing his selfless service for the noble public cause. “Letters to the editor columm” is the soul of a newspaper. Dixit says that just a match box albeit small in size, contains enough match sticks to start a blaze, similarly, this column, though it occupies a small space or an issue, it plays a vital role. His letters are not only published in Indian publicatio­ns, but also in newspapers of foreign countries including “The Guardian” in UK and around 7 newspapers of Pakistan.
