BJP’s open arms to Trinamool defectors still open

There is no update about six sitting members of the legislative Assembly (MLAs) in Tripura from the Trinamool Congress (TMC) who were to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Whispers of this were first heard earlier this year. In March, 400 members of the TMC in the state joined the BJP, including it’s former Tripura unit chief, Ratan Chakraborty. Later, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the BJP’s major in the Northeast, let it be known that his party would welcome significant guests from the TMC shortly. It hasn’t happened so far.
