-

The government of Madhya Pradesh is committed to infrastructural development in the state. An efficient infrastructure is a key to all the developmental activities such as business facilities or Investment prospects. The state government led by Shivraj Singh acknowledges this very well and this is the reason why he has given tremendous attention to the basic development in last 12 years. The results are in front of us as the state is now considered to be a progressive state rather than the earlier identity of an ailing state. In last one decade, the state has witnessed an unprecedented development in the field of infrastructure. The Irrigation facilities have increased over six times and the area under irrigation has crossed 46 lakh hectares. About 1.50 Lakh km of roads have been constructed. There is abundant land available in the state for setting up an industry. Special focus is being kept to remove the problems of irrigation and drinkingwater through the river linking projects.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION

The durability of the road network is crucial for common transport and industrial, which is why about Rs 21,412 crore has been spent on road construction and maintenance in the past decade. Madhya Pradesh is one of the few states where private capital is being used extensively in road construction. In the last 11 years, 6500 km roads were constructed with the private capital of 14521 crore rupees. The Asian Development Bank continues to be an indispensable partner for this in the state. Under the ambitious Bharatmala Road Construction Project chalked out by the Central Government almost 7000Km of roads will be constructed in the state.

ELECTRICITY GENERATION

Madhya Pradesh is one of the few states of the country which boasts of surplus electricity. As a result of the determination of the state government, nowthe state has those selected states, where all the consumers in rural areas and even rural households are being supplied with round the clock electricity. Along with this, there is a robust system for supply of power to agriculturists for 10 hours. In the last 5 years, the power supply has been increased by about 64 percent in the state. In the last year, a total of 6380 million units of power have been supplied, which is 12 percent more than the year 2014-15. For the first time, more than 10 thousand MW power was supplied during the last Rabi season. currently, there is sufficient availability of electricity in the state. At Present, there is an available capacity of 18000 MW of electricity in the state. This availability of electricity has been ensured on the basis of long-term power purchase agreements. In order to balance out the demand and supply equation in the state, a roadmap till the year 2022 has been chalked out. During this period, the available power supply of the state will increase up to 22,513MW.

LAND BANK

The State Government has prepared a land bank of 1.20 lakh acres to facilitate the industrialists. Out of this 15,000 acres of land has been developed industrial land. Also, 10 new industrial areas are being developed at a cost of about Rs 2,000 crore.

NEW INDUSTRIAL ESTATES

The State Government is developing 9 new industrial areas for the expansion of industrial activities in the state. These industrial areas are being developed in 2,625 hectares of land. An amount of Rs 1940 crore has been sanctioned for the same. Also, New industrial centers are being developed at Dhar, Sehore, Hoshangabad, Shivpuri, Neemuch, Jabalpur, Satna and Indore. The entire infrastructure of the industrial sector is being developed here at a rapid pace.

MINERAL RESOURCES

The fertile land of the state is rich in mineral resources. These resources will be utilised for the benefit of the state and its people. The Government has enacted “Rule 2005” for roads and other infrastructure work in mineral areas. Through this, the additional tax revenue of more than Rs 4,500 crore has been received from the year 2004 to 2016. The State Government has implemented illegal mining, transport, and storage prevention rules, 2006, effectively to strictly prohibit any illegal storage of minerals. It is due to the implementation of the aforementioned rules; a large number of people have got employment in the state to do business by mining the minerals.
