Smart City campaign rolls out at Gujarat Refinery

Gujarat Refinery Township has been identified to be developed as a Model Smart Township by 2020 in line with Govt. of India Smart City projects. In this direction, led by Executive Director, Mr. Sudhir Kumar, a 21-point action plan towards digitaliza­tion, WiFi enablement in township, energy conservati­on, plastic neutrality, solar energy, rain water harvesting, empowering women with digital literacy, work-life balance and wellness among residents has been initiated. As a take-off, a special campaign was held in the Township featuring first-of-its-kind fusion model of Fitness Sunday with Happy Street and Mini Marathon which witnessed a huge and enthusiast­ic participat­ion of families of refinery employees and their families including school students. The motive of this campaign was to promote Digital Payments and Smart Living. The idea was also to create an awareness towards physical fitness and wellbeing besides promoting the concept of developmen­t of Smart Township amongst the township residents. The Fitness Sunday saw a Mini Marathon of 10, 5 and 2 Kms in the lush green-belt along with other special attraction­s such as Zumba, Aerobics, Bhangra, Kids games, Rain Run, etc., which was a sight to behold with more than 1000 Gujrefins participat­ing enthusiast­ically. Executive Director, Mr. Sudhir Kumar flagged-off of the marathon in the presence of CGM (HR), Mr. W R Borbora, President of Health Club of Gujarat Refinery and Convenor of Smart Township, Dr. Prashant Rout, Commandant, CISF, Mr. VK Kakkar, GREM School Trust Head, Mr. Girish Patel, among others. Former Mr. India and Mr. Asia of 1973, Mr. Jahangir Patwa, the guest speaker and Fitness Guru shared his fitness tips to the large audience including key tips for the new generation to choose healthy home cooked food and avoid street food, regular workout to lead disease and stress free life.
