Sun Shines brighter on Madhya Pradesh as state tops all charts of Solar Power Generation

-

The world around is going green. Leaving behind the conventional modes of generating power, all are trying to shift to renewables – in their best possible capacities and also achieving great goals.

Looking closely at one of the most populous countries of the world – India, we understand that it is very likely to have huge demands for energy. While the whole country is moving towards the green energy, Madhya Pradesh is one state that is leading from the front.

The 750 MW Rewa Solar Project in Madhya Pradesh is included among the world’s largest projects of solar power generation. Costing about Rs 4,000 crore, the project is now operational in full capacity.

The vision of solar power generation and the approach to prioritize the renewable energy generation in Madhya Pradesh had commenced during the tenure of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Today, that vision and efforts to create a greener earth has translated into great success.

Reports state that The REWA Solar project alone prevents carbon dioxide emissions of more than 15 lakh tons. Preventing this amount of emission is equivalent to giving the planet a green cover of crores of trees.

The project is one of its kind - set up in an area of 1590 hectares, it is one of the largest single site solar plants in the world. It is a great contributor to the concept of Atmanirbhar Bharat. With the production of Solar Energy in full capacity, this single project provides employment to 800 people. In addition to this, six projects of 5 thousand MW are under construction. As much as 67 percent of the power generated from the project is being provided to the state’s Power Management Company while 24 percent was provided to the Delhi Metro. For the first time, a project has provided electricity (through open access) to Delhi Metro, a commercial institution outside the state. Rewa Solar Power Project will not only make the state self-reliant in the field of renewable energy but will also make Madhya Pradesh a leader in providing electricity to other states and commercial establishments.

The state, even though has been applauded and lauded for its efforts in the field of making Madhya Pradesh shine, there is no stopping. They are yet not there, and aim to achieve much more.

To add more feathers to its cap, Madhya Pradesh has a number of projects in mind. In the pipeline are ongoing work for setting up of solar parks at various locations. taking one stride after another, Madhya Pradesh continues to fuel its solar appetite, making the state a solar giant of the nation.
