Melbourne, Australia October 6-23 MELBOURNE FESTIVAL Melbourne Festival strives to bring about positive change in people and society with culture and art events spread over 18 days, including: Backstage in Biscuit Land, Ancient Rain, Buried Country, The Money, Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour, The Dark Chorus, and many more. HANGEUL PROCLAMATION DAY South Koreans take great pride in celebrating Hangeul Proclamation Day — the day the Korean script called Hangeul was invented by King Sejong. Prior to the Hangeul writing system, the Koreans used Chinese script; but due to lack of educational programmes, many remained illiterate. As of today, South Korea owes much of its success to the Hangeul writing alphabet and writing system.
