GEOPOLITICAL UNCERTAINTY
Two words: Brexit and Trump. Exchange rates and markets have undoubtedly taken a hit, but when it comes to travel, most people want to keep calm and carry on. The continued slowdown of the Chinese economy, terrorism and depressed oil prices are also contributing factors.
Choice Hotels’European Hotelier PulseCheck survey found that only 19 per cent of respondents thought Brexit might have a negative impact on their business. A poll on businesstraveller.com revealed that 46 per cent of readers expect to travel more in 2017.
