Air India deploys a B777 on its Delhi-Chennai sector and will add six internatio­nal destinatio­ns to its route map this year

India’s national carrier, Air India has upgraded its Delhi-Chennai sector from a A321 to a B777 aircraft. The wide body aircraft flies two of five daily services on this route.

The move is in step with the full service airline’s plans to “provide a rich flying experience to the travellers”. In February, Air India upgraded its Delhi-Bhopal sector to the A320; and earlier still, to the B787 on the Dubai-Kochi route.

Flight AI-439 departs from Delhi at 0605 and arrives in Chennai at 0845. Return flight AI430 takes off from Chennai at 0955 and reaches Delhi at 1255.

In the evening, AI-042 leaves Delhi at 1720 and reaches Chennai at 2005. Return flight AI043 departs from Chennai at 2110 hours and arrives in Delhi at 2355.

Furthermor­e, Air India’s chairman and managing director, Ashwani Lohani announced in a Facebook post that the airline will launch direct flights to Washington, Los Angeles, Dallas, Stockholm, Nairobi and Tel Aviv this year.

It read: “To Washington from 7th July, Stockholm from 15th August and Los Angeles from 1st September to be followed by Tel Aviv, Dallas and Nairobi sometime later during the year 2017 itself. Air india spreads its wings far and wide.”

Flight AI103 will depart from Delhi at 0115 and arrive in Washington at 0715. Return flight AI104 will depart from Washington at 1100 and arrive in New Delhi at 1030 the next day. This route will be served by a B777-200LR on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Air India will announce schedules for the other direct flights, shortly. airindia.in
