Jet Airways extends joint venture to cover Chennai and Bengaluru

-

This autumn will see Jet Airways

offering more possibilities for travel between India, Europe and North America.

As Business Traveller has previously reported, Jet Airways recently teamed up with Air France, KLM and Delta but only for departures from Mumbai and Delhi.

From October the tie-up with these three carriers will include non-stop services departing from Chennai and Bengaluru to Paris CDG and Amsterdam, as reported by The Times of India.

Once they reach Amsterdam or Paris, passengers will be able to connect to 35 points in Europe or 24 points in the US, Canada and Mexico.

India’s airlines are on a roll following Trump’s laptop ban for those travellers (many of whom start their trips in India) taking US-bound flights from the Gulf.

The ban has boosted passenger numbers flying between India and the US.

According to The Times of India more passengers are now either taking non-stop flights (which benefits Air India) or services via Europe (with Jet Airways or other carriers).

And this decline in passengers coming from India is one reason why Emirates, the market leader for US-bound travel via the Gulf, will scale back its Gulf-US services.

The new routes will start on October 29 with Jet Airways using A330s. Schedules are timed for connectivity in Amsterdam and Paris CDG. Flights are displayed on the carrier’s website.

• Bengaluru-Amsterdam 9W236 departs 0225, arrives 0835. • Amsterdam-Bengaluru 9W235 departs 1050, arrives 0040 the following day. • Chennai-Paris CDG 9W128 departs 0140, arrives 0810. • Paris CDG-Chennai departs 1010, arrives 0010 the following day.

Further, Jet Airways also has a tie-up with Virgin Atlantic for India-US flights. jetairways.com
