Caprese; Oshima

- Ravi Lalwani

On my business trip to Bengaluru, I had a chance to dine at Shangri-La Hotel, Bengaluru’s Italian restaurant Caprese. Dressed in subtle shades of beiges and browns, the restaurant oers an ideal environment for business lunches and social gatherings.

Headed by Italian Chef Lorenzo, the menu of Caprese oers a grand variety of authentic Italian fare in the Karnataka capital. This is spread across piadina (Italian flatbreads), bruschetta, antipasti, salads, zuppa (soup in Italian), pasta, pizza and mains along with an array of desserts.

I picked grilled prawns with arugula, chilli and red onion salad to begin my meal. The shrimps were delicious with the spice adding a nice kick to this course. Next, I chose tagliata di bufalo, sliced grilled tenderloin served with trule potato galette, roasted shallots and a cabernet reduction. A steak aficionado, I was impressed at the quality, presentation and taste of this dish. The cabernet reduction attributed the smokiness of the steak which went well with my choice of drink — a gin and tonic.

To finish, I couldn’t help myself to an indulgent tiramisu. Perfectly silken in texture and decadent on my palate, I chose to up the caeine quotient in my last course with a side of espresso.
