Agar­wal re­cently un­der­took a tree plan­ta­tion ini­tia­tive by plant­ing 756 saplings at their Chuzachan pro­ject site in Rongli, Sikkim. The tree plan­ta­tion drive aims at plant­ing a to­tal of one lakh saplings dur­ing this mon­soon sea­son. The saplings to be planted in­clude fruits, flow­ers, ashoka, bam­boo and broom. Re­cently, Gati In­fra­struc­ture had en­tered into an agree­ment with the State Govern­ment of Sikkim to im­ple­ment three hy­dro power projects on a Build, Op­er­ate, Own and Trans­fer ba­sis (BOOT). The first pro­ject – 110MW Chuzachen Hy­dro Pro­ject on Rangpo and Rongli rivers has been com­mis­sioned and started pro­duc­tion. “The plan­ta­tion of trees will up­hold the com­mit­ment the pro­ject has to­wards the pro­tec­tion of the en­vi­ron­ment at the Chuzachan pro­ject,” said Gati sources. The saplings would be planted in and around the power house and on the bor­ders of the pro­ject to­wards the road. The sources also main­tained that at Gati In­fra­struc­ture, ev­ery pro­ject in­cludes a so­cial com­mit­ment to con­trib­ute to the eco­nomic de­vel­op­ment while im­prov­ing the qual­ity of life of the work­force and their fam­i­lies as well as of the lo­cal com­mu­nity and so­ci­ety at large. The com­pany’s CSR ac­tiv­i­ties in­clude ed­u­ca­tion, self-man­aged ru­ral in­sti­tu­tions, health, liveli­hood and food se­cu­rity, ca­pac­ity build­ing, gen­er­a­tion of aware­ness and spon­sor­ships.
