MBMS convenes sixth AGM

-

Mumbai Bus Malak Sanghatana (MBMS) convened its sixth Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Mumbai recently. Over 300 private bus operators, including Neeta Travels, Modern Transport and Vigneshwar Travels, attended the meet. Announced at the AGM was the break through regarding MMR permit. MBMS, it was claimed, was instrumental in the government passing the resolution regarding Mumbai Mahanagar Region Permit early this year. Notification to issue MMR permit was sent to all the Regional Transport Offices (RTO’s) thereafter. Important issues discussed during the AGM were the quick implementation of online payment and permits, revision in penalty charges for fitness and e-audit of RTO. A vote was sought from members to acquire Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag. This could entail a payment of one-time fee. Representing bus owners under the jurisdiction of Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Transport Authority, MBMS was formed by bus owners in 2007. Its objective is to fight for the rights of bus owners and raise important issues that need the attention of concerned authorities.
