Road projects propel CE sales

-

Pick-up in road projects has propelled the sale of Construction Equipment (CE) to a four-year high, claim industry sources. They add that sales of construction equipment such as backhoe loaders, pick-n-carry cranes, earth moving machines and excavators rose to their highest in four years in 2016. According to the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers’ Association (ICEMA), overall volumes of CE expanded 41.5 per cent to an estimated 52,100 units in 2016 as compared to 36,800 units in the previous year. Industry sources claim that the industry is yet to reach the peak levels of 2011. The performance in 2016 has been however good they add. In a bid to ride the growth momentum, construction equipment firms are said to be building manpower and technical capabilities as they enter newer segments and launch new products.
