The interview of Jeorg Mommertz, Chairman and Managing Director of MAN Trucks India Pvt. Ltd in the March edition of CV was insightful. Jeorg Mommertz made an interesting comparision between the Indian market’s cyclicity with that of the global markets. It set the tone for me. In a dynamic business environment, the interview gave an insight into how stakeholders need to excercise flexibility to adapt to the changing market dynamics. Clearly, OEMs need to be very agile. Indulge in associations like MAN and Scania’s shared production facility in Russia, and how it has resulted in cost savings. It was interesting to note that MAN is keen to be a value brand, the way it is perceived in Germany. Not keen to compete in mass volume segments exactly, MAN, it will be interesting to see, chalk out a strong growth strategy in India.
