Positive growth continues

The Indian industry produced a total 25,316,044 vehicles including passenger vehicles, Commercial Vehicles (CVs), three wheelers, two wheelers and quadricycl­e in the period between April and March 2017 as against 24,016,599 in the same period last fiscal, registerin­g a growth of 5.41 percent over the same period last year. The industry sold a total of 21,862,128 vehicles in April-March 2017, up 6.81 per cent, as against the sale of 20,468,971 vehicles in AprilMarch 2016. In April-March 2017, 714,232 CVs were sold, up 4.16 per cent, as compared to 685,704 sold in April-March 2016. In March 2017, 87,257 CVs were sold, up 9.26 per cent, as compared to 79,865 CVs sold in March 2016. In the April-March 2017 period, 302,529 M&HCVs were sold, up 0.04 per cent, as compared to 302,397 M&HCVs sold in AprilMarch 2016. In March 2017, 39,353 M&HCVs were sold, up 5.97 per cent, as compared to 37,137 M&HCVs sold in March 2016. In the period April-March 2017, 411,703 LCVs were sold, up 7.41 per cent, as compared to 383,307 LCVs sold during April-March 2016. In March 2017, 47,904 LCVs were sold, up 12.11 per cent, as compared to 42,728 LCVs sold in March 2016. In the period April-March 2017, 511,658 three wheelers were sold, down (-) 4.93 per cent, as compared to 538,208 three wheelers sold in April-March 2016. In March 2017, 39,000 three wheelers were sold, down (-) 23.72 per cent, as compared to 51,128 three wheelers sold in March 2016. In April-March 2017, 3,479,824 automobile­s were exported, down (-) 4.5 per cent, as compared to 3,643,828 exported in April-March 2016. In March 2017, 304,704 automobile­s were exported, up 13.59 per cent, as compared to 268,246 exported during April-March 2017. In March 2017, 9,244 CVs were exported, down (-) 12.32 per cent, as against the export of 10,543 CVs in March 2016. In March 2017, 4,192 M&HCVs were exported, up 4.15 per cent, as compared to 4,025 M&HCVs exported in March 2016. In March 2017, 5,052 LCVs were exported, down (-) 22.49 per cent, as against 6,518 LCVs sold in March 2016. In April-March 2017, 271,894 three wheelers were exported, down (-) 32.77 per cent, as against the export of 404,441 three wheelers in the period April-March 2016. In March 2017, not a single quadricycl­e was exported as against the export of 130 quadricycl­es in March 2016.
