Tata Mo­tors de­liv­ers buses to BMTC

Tata Mo­tors has de­liv­ered 30 buses to the Ban­ga­lore Mu­nic­i­pal Trans­port Cor­po­ra­tion (BMTC) as part of a larger or­der of 1385 buses the com­pany has bagged. The or­der com­prises of Ul­tra 6/9 BS IV Midi and LPO 1512/55 BS IV buses. En­gi­neered to meet the fu­ture trans­porta­tion needs of Ban­ga­lore as it trans­forms into a smart city, the buses are said to in­clude in­tel­li­gent trans­port sys­tem among other mod­ern and in­no­va­tive tech­nolo­gies. BMTC is claimed to have over 2200 Tata buses in its fleet. The new buses with a seat­ing ca­pac­ity of 30, mea­sure 9 m in length and 2.5 m in width. In other news, the 9 m long Tata elec­tric bus on the Ul­tra plat­form has gone on trial at Chandi­garh. The bus has a ca­pac­ity to seat 31 pas­sen­gers, and will be on trial for over 15 days. The trial is be­ing jointly car­ried out by Chandi­garh Trans­port Un­der­tak­ing (CTU) and the State Trans­port De­part­ment. The in­tro­duc­tion of elec­tric city buses is be­ing con­tem­plated as part of a move to a smart city.
