Tata Motors delivers buses to BMTC
Tata Motors has delivered 30 buses to the Bangalore Municipal Transport Corporation (BMTC) as part of a larger order of 1385 buses the company has bagged. The order comprises of Ultra 6/9 BS IV Midi and LPO 1512/55 BS IV buses. Engineered to meet the future transportation needs of Bangalore as it transforms into a smart city, the buses are said to include intelligent transport system among other modern and innovative technologies. BMTC is claimed to have over 2200 Tata buses in its fleet. The new buses with a seating capacity of 30, measure 9 m in length and 2.5 m in width. In other news, the 9 m long Tata electric bus on the Ultra platform has gone on trial at Chandigarh. The bus has a capacity to seat 31 passengers, and will be on trial for over 15 days. The trial is being jointly carried out by Chandigarh Transport Undertaking (CTU) and the State Transport Department. The introduction of electric city buses is being contemplated as part of a move to a smart city.
