New age mobility solutions

- Prathamesh Pangaonkar, Pune

The cover story on ZF mobility solutions serves as a good indicator of the way CVs the world over are changing. It was an engaging read that brought to my attention how the change is not limited to just prototypes but lending to commercially viable solutions. ZF Friedrichshafen AG seems to have got it spot on, going by the range of new mobility solutions displayed by the company at its technology day in Germany. It is great to see companies like ZF are stepping on the gas pedal even as they work in a complex environment. It is much needed of CV OEMs to work with technology companies like ZF to succeed and sustain in this new age of mobility. I particularly found myself gaping at the people and cargo mover called e.GO designed and developed to address the urban mobility needs of the future. It truly is an amalgamation of traditional and new age technologies. Besides the autonomous terminal yard tractor capable of manoeuvring in defined areas like warehousing complexes and port terminals, the need of the hour is to present the driver a safety envelope and empower him to look at other crucial aspects. It will interesting to see how companies push mobility and services.
