Olectra-Byd electric bus trials MIPCL signs on Yanmar Group
In an attempt to tackle the menace of rising pollution levels in the national capital, the state government of Delhi initiated trials of OlectraBYDs 12 m long electric bus, eBuzz K9, recently. With a seating capacity of 36 (35+driver), the ebus was flagged off by transport minister of Delhi Kailash Gahlot, and will run on route number 534 (between Anand Vihar ISBT and Mehrauli Terminal) for a period of three months. It will enable authorities to evaluate the efficiency and competency of the buses in real world road conditions. Speaking on the occasion, N. Naga Satyam, Executive Director – Olectra Greentech Limited, said, “Olectra BYD buses are proven successful in all the terrains across the country. We are aiming to continue our leadership in the eBus segment.” The eBuzz K9 bus is claimed to run 300 km on a single recharge.
Mahindra Industrial Park Chennai Limited (MIPCL), a joint venture between Mahindra World City Developers Limited and Sumitomo Corporation of Japan has announced the signing of Yanmar Group as its anchor customer. Over 100 years old, the Yanmar Group of Japan will establish a diesel engine manufacturing facility to cater to the needs of OEMs in the Indian construction and agriculture sectors. The facility will be operational by 2020, and operate in an evironment that comprises of modern industrial clusters spanning over 250 to 600 acres, and located in high growth corridors across India. Situated to the north of Chennai, the project is expected to generate direct employment for 7000 people upon completion.
