Tata Motors CVs for e-commerce

Tata Motors has launched CVs to address the transporta­tion needs of the e-commerce sector.

To address the transporta­tion needs of the e-commerce sector, which is expected to grow to US$ 200 billion by 2026 from US$ 38.5 billion in 2017 on account of the proliferat­ion of internet and subsequent­ly the rising preference for ordering high value goods online, Tata Motors has introduced 13 CVs in the Small Commercial Vehicle (SCV), Intermedia­te and Light Commercial Vehicle (ILCV) and Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicle (MHCV) segments. Launched at an event in Gurugram amid much fanfare and the attendance of over 200 visitors, many of whom would be the potential customers, the 13 CVs included an Ace delivery van, Ace Zip panel van, Super Ace Mint XPS, Ultra 1518/53, Ultra 1014/45 (with 20 feet MS container body), Ultra 1014/45 (with 20 feet reefer body), Ultra 1518/53 (MS container body with three opening sides), LPT 1412/48 (with 22 feet MS container body), SFC 407/33 (with 10 feet MS container body), LPT 1613/52 (with 24 feet refrigerat­ed container body), LPT 2518/68 (32 feet refrigerat­ed container body), Signa 2818/68 AMT (with 31 feet MS container body) and LPT 1618/68 Turbotronn (with 32 feet MS container body).

Aimed at a sector that is growing at a fast pace, according to Girish Wagh, President – Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, the CVs are engineered to enable e-commerce transporte­rs to service their clients in a most effective manner. With the pin codes in the country claimed to amount to 8000 in numbers, the SCVs on the Ace platform have been engineered as per the customer inputs received by Tata Motors. These are thus built to be viable and profitable for customers dealing in last mile connectivi­ty of voluminous goods. If the delivery van version of the Ace could be had in a High Torque (HT) diesel version and a CNG version (for urban regions like NCR and Mumbai), the Super Ace Mint XPS is aimed at transporti­ng dairy products and groceries as a reefer van.
