Jamna Auto Industries is leveraging mobile apps. to carve out a bigger share of the market.

Leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI), Jamna Auto Industries has developed two apps. in an effort to carve out a bigger pie of the market. The company, specializing in the manufacture of leaf springs among other components for commercial vehicles, has developed the JAI MLP app. for mechanics. It calls upon a mechanic to register himself with the company’s sales officer who in-turn provides him with a welcome kit. The kit also includes a cash card similar to a debit card. The products purchased by the mechanic using the app. would come with a sticker, which has a unique code. This code is scanned by the sales officer to provide the mechanic with reward points. These points are converted into currency and added to the cash card. Providing an incentive of 1.75 per cent of the retail price for a Jamna Auto product, the company upon the mechanic accumulating a certain number of points is eligible to participate in a lucky draw called ‘Jai Ho’. The draw is held regularly in different cities of India in a bid to encourage more and more mechanics to come onboard. The app. is also expected to encourage more and more mechanics to prefer quality spares over spurious ones.

The Jai Aftermarket app. at the other end, was developed to facilitate the working of

the aftermarket that are no second in quality to the parts that it supplies to OEMs.

Having put in place a definitive structure of channel partners, distributors, retailers and mechanics, the company is keen that genuine products reach to the buyers in the replacement market. Well aware of the threat the unorganised aftermarket poses, Jamna Auto, according

to Bhupesh, is driving the incentive programme just to encourage a shift from cheap non-reliable products to genuine spares even if they are a bit costlier. The ability of genuine products to far outperform cheap and non-reliable spares from the unorganized market are much higher, he stated. Going that extra mile, the company has been regularly conducting

plant visits for its distributors and mechanics just so that they understand why parts from Jamna Auto Industries make a case for quality and performance. With particular concern about the high rate of accidents in India, and the loss that accompanies, Jamna Auto is working on an aggressive aftermarket thrust by going digital with two apps. that it has developed.
