MulticoreW­are Inc. has revealed a broad collaborat­ion with Uhnder to drive software and hardware developmen­t of Uhnder’s radar technology. The collaborat­ion will entail MulticoreW­are operating offshore developmen­t centers (ODC) for Uhnder that would include work with Uhnder customers as well. Uhnder is developing a digital automotive Radaron-Chip (RoC), which would operate at 76-81

GHz and use Digital Code Modulation (DCM). It will offer 4D High Contrast Resolution (HCR) with the capability to deliver range and accuracy not possible with other solutions currently on the market. As it aids Uhnder to develop radar technology, MulticoreW­are would leverage its expertise in the developmen­t, porting and optimisati­on of computatio­n-intensive algorithms running on Multicore CPUs (Central

Processing Unit), DSPs (Digital Signal Processing) and GPUs (Graphical Processing Unit). MulticoreW­are, through its team in India, has delivered world-class software solutions for video compressio­n and image processing use cases.

In a surprise move, Maruti Suzuki, under its Mobility & Automobile Innovation Lab (MAIL) program has invested in five startups. Selecting them for Proof of Concept (PoC), the OEM is keen to see the journey of startups from the concept stage to the real-time applicatio­n stage. Identifyin­g the five startups – SenseGiz for enterprise and industrial IoT products, Xane for AI, Eyedentify for automotive IoT. Enmovil for logistic analytical platform solutions, and Docketrun for AI, for their ability to develop and deliver innovative and cutting-edge solutions, the company is looking at the five startups playing a key role in the mobility and automobile space. Subjected to an extensive three months long accelerati­on programme, the five startups were mentored by various experts from both domestic as well as an internatio­nal startup ecosystem. They also received guidance from domain experts at Maruti Suzuki and were given access to Maruti Suzuki’s testbed and facilities to understand the current scenario and suggest solutions to fit the business needs.

Having delivered more than 200 electric buses under the FAME I scheme, Tata Motors has bagged an order to supply 300 e-buses to Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL). Said to command a 60 per cent market share under FAME I, the company will supply the Urban 9/9 Electric e-bus model to AJL. To ply on Ahmedabad’s BRTS corridor, the Urban 9/9 Electric is powered by a 145 kW PMAC traction motor and has a range of over 200 km on a single charge. Capable of a top speed of 75 to 80 kmph, the e-bus measures nine-meter in length and has a GVW of 10.2-tonnes. Capable of seating 26 commuters and accommodat­ing 13 standees, the e-bus will be deployed under the OPEX model with Tata Motors setting up the required infrastruc­ture including fast charging and the rest of the support system. In order to ensure reliable and efficient operation, the e-bus has its critical electrical traction components sourced from best-in-class suppliers in the USA, Germany, and China. The vehicle has been tested and validated across diverse terrains.

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) recently took action against the infringeme­nt of its brand name ‘BharatBenz’ allegedly by Pyken Industries. Accusing of selling unauthoris­ed spare parts, Daimler has initiated legal proceeding­s against the latter for allegedly manufactur­ing and selling spare parts bearing the mark BharatBenz and in turn damaging the brand’s reputation. Delhi High court has passed an ex parte interim order against Pyken Industries, allowing court-appointed commission­ers to raid two locations, namely Pyken Industries Pvt. Ltd., Ghaziabad, and BSI Sales India, Delhi. During this raid, several products, known to have been seized, include torque rod bushes, V rod bushes, king pin bearings, and oil seals to name a few. Satyakam Arya, Managing Director and CEO, DICV in his statement said that the monetary damages may be negligible but they wish to create awareness and ensure safety of the customers. “We take brand protection seriously and this legal action shows how vigorously we will always work to protect our customers and our brand reputation,” he mentioned.

Indian tyre manufactur­er Ceat Ltd has launched a new and highly durable X3 series truck tyre range in India. It contains five different models called the WinLoad X3D, WinMile X3-D, WinSuper X3-D, Mile XL X3-R and Rock Max X3. Specifical­ly designed to address the demand for durable and costeffect­ive tyres, the X3 series consists of three radial tyres and two bias tyres respective­ly.
