This cab ser­vice is run by an en­tire fleet of women driv­ers for women pas­sen­gers. They say their aim is to pro­vide safe trans­port sys­tem to women who choose to travel fre­quently all by them­selves, though they may af­ford to own a car (but do not take the trou­ble to drive one) and even hire a chauf­feur (to drive their own car).

The com­pany that runs the fleet takes to part­ner­ing with civil so­ci­ety or­ga­ni­za­tions in iden­ti­fy­ing, se­lect­ing, mo­ti­vat­ing and train­ing the women driv­ers, who are drawn from mar­ginal fam­i­lies and are com­mit­ted to mak­ing taxi driv­ing their pro­fes­sional ca­reer op­tion. The com­pany fur­ther claims that these women driv­ers are trained by the In­sti­tute of Driv­ing Train­ing & Re­search (IDTR). The driv­ers are care­fully cho­sen on the strength of their char­ac­ter, an­tecedents, knowl­edge of roads and soft­ware skills (the last is taught to them to be more soft­ware-friendly). They are also guided on as­pects such as self-de­fence, first aid, com­mu­nica­tive skills and fa­mil­iar­ity with places of tourist in­ter­est.

The com­pany says that their ser­vices are par­tic­u­larly suit­able for: a) sin­gle work­ing women work­ing in 24 x 7

en­vi­ron­ment; b) par­ent(s) look­ing for a de­pend­able lady chauf­feur to es­cort their wards to var­i­ous classes/func­tions; c) se­nior cit­i­zens re­quir­ing re­li­able chauf­feurs; d) NGOs who seek to show­case their

com­mit­ment to gen­der equal­ity; e) in­sti­tu­tions (read call cen­tres) re­quir­ing safe
