“I had a marathon day of two job in­ter­views with dif­fer­ent law firms all over the city. The first one was great, so I grabbed lunch and felt con­fi­dent go­ing into the sec­ond. It started off well, un­til the in­ter­viewer asked me why I wanted to work there. She looked at me funny, while I was an­swer­ing, but I kept go­ing. Her re­ply, ‘Thanks for your time, but if you want to work at this other firm so badly, fo­cus your en­ergy on that.’ I had slipped and said the name of the firm I’d in­ter­viewed with ear­lier that day. I just thanked her for her time and left. ”
