Age, shmage—these celebs are getting hotter as they get older!

At 42, nobody would blame J.LO for taking it a little easy. You know, cut back on the sexiness, and slow down on that career. Instead, she’s looking better than ever (did you see her at the Oscars?!) and is currently living it up with her 24-year-old beau, Casper Smart, following her split from husband Marc Anthony.

Similarly, if a few years ago you told us that Gwyneth Paltrow, 40, was cool, we’d have giggled. Fast forward to 2012, and she’s at the top of her game, looking fit and fashforward on the arm of hubby and rockstar Chris Martin. There’s also Gwen Stefani, 41, Jennifer Aniston, 42, and soon-to-be-40 Karisma Kapoor, all of whom are looking hotter with time. This is partly down to their age, says Peggy Orenstein, author of Flux: Women On Sex, Work, Love, Kids, And Life in a HalfChanged World. “In their 20s and 30s, women are focused on asking what others want. Turning 40 signals a time to ask, ‘What do want from me?’ It’s empowering.”

If there’s one thing we can learn from these stars, it’s that with age comes confidence and empowerment—and that’s something to look forward to.
