WINE WOES

“My best friend had splurged on a gorgeous, pristine-white dress for her birthday party. She was working the room meeting people, while I was hanging with other friends near the bar. At one point, I was telling a funny story and wildly gesticulating, when I accidentally threw my glass of red wine above my shoulder. I spun around to apologise, and saw—in horror—that I had spilt the red stuff all over the back of my friend’s dress. Since she hadn’t noticed, I didn’t say anything, and half an hour later when she came crying to me about the ‘mysterious stain’, I simply sympathised with her and offered to help clean it.”
