Google announced that users can now find directions and choose from a menu of ride service options straight from its Google Search App or through the mobile search browser. The feature was made available on the latest version of Google Maps earlier this year – featuring a dedicated tab with information for cab services in addition to the existing driving, public transport, and walking options. Now with this integration, commuters across the country can ask Google for directions and book ride services directly from Google Search. They will get to see a tab for ride services, both Uber and Ola, with fare estimates and pick up times if a car is available near their location. On request for specific information such as “Taxi to Bangalore Airport” or more specifically “Uber to Bangalore Airport” or “Ola to Bangalore Airport”, the app/ browser directs the user to select a service and automatically opens the app to book the ride, all in just one tap. 14 www.dqindia.com

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and CA Technologies announced that, in recognition of Cyber Security Awareness Month, the software company is providing additional funding for NCMEC’s efforts to provide Internet safety programs to children nationwide. CA’s funding will support NCMEC’s NetSmartz program, a free, interactive, online educational resource for children ages 5 to 17. The program’s website receives more than 5.5 mn visitors a year and offers resources for kids, parents and educators. Active in all 50 states, the program seeks to make children more responsible users of the Internet. It uses data, cutting-edge technology, engaging music, and animation to address the issues that affect children the most, such as cyber bullying, sexting and revealing too much information. For more than a decade, CA Technologies has partnered with NCMEC to help find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation and prevent child victimization. In addition to monetary support, the company has contributed software solutions, services and training to the institution.
