SCOPE National Convention on “Digitalization: Opportunities and Challenges” concluded successfully on June 29, 2017 at SCOPE Convention Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Standing Conference of Public Enterprises- SCOPE, the apex body of Central Government owned Public Enterprises invited Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Hon’ble Union Minister of Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice to inaugurate the two-day National Convention.

The two day seminar focused on the government’s digital initiatives. The workshop was organized to get a clear picture on Digital India’s impact on businesses and how the PSEs and various government departments can leverage the digital transformation. The convention brought together associates from organizations such as RailTel, KPMG, SISIL Infotech and Oracle; including audience which largely represented OEMs from the ICT community, end-users, consultants, distributors and various other Indian IT and software organizations from all sectors. The gathering also offered an opportunity for delegates to discuss cutting edge innovative ideas to revolutionize the digital future and leverage its benefits.

In his welcome address, Dr. UD Chaubey, DG, SCOPE said, “For Public Enterprises, Digital India is not limited to just e-office, e-file movement system and e-payments; but much more than that. All efforts are on to bridge the

gap of constant innovations taking place every day. To succeed in this, the workforce, skills and capabilities have to keep pace with the most disruptive era of information technology. In last few years, knowledge and skill sets have really been encouraging and we compliment the government for that spirit to instill digitization in Public Sector Enterprises. Gone are the days when we considered that digitalization is limited to only some specialists in an organization. Now, skills and technology have such importance that each and every employee must be digitally savvy and trained with appropriate knowledge.”

Ravi Shankar Prasad delivered the inaugural address highlighting how the government has geared up to serve as a powerful facilitator of digital transformation with the Digital India initiative. The initiative is catalyzing the growth of indigenous electronic manufacturing and strengthening digital financial services. “The Government has initiated many transformative programmes- Digital India, Skill India, Start-up India, Make-In-India, and Smart Cities. The common base among all these is the digital platform. Digital India is designed to transform India with a clear objective of not only digital enablement but also to empower all digitally. Digital empowerment and transformation will never happen if there is no transformation in governance. Good governance is the base of digital platform which is the most important helping instrument to usher in the transformation.” he said.
