HYDERABAD UNIVERSITY A FAVOURITE AMONG DELHI STUDENTS
The number of students from Delhi, who have applied for admission to courses in the University of Hyderabad, has almost doubled this year in comparison to the last academic year.
The university received around 34,000 applications this year for 2,200 seats. After Andhra Pradesh, the highest number of applications (4,094) has come from Delhi. Last year, there were 2,000 applications from stu- dents in Delhi.
Controller of Exams of the university Dr Ch. Venkateswara Rao said, “This year, around 57,000 students had registered for online admission. However, only 34,168 could successfully complete the registration process. After Andhra Pradesh, the largest number of applications had been received from Delhi and then Kerala.”
University of Hyderabad spokesperson Ashish Jacob Thomas said, “Usually the boysgirls ratio in application for course admission is about 65:35, but this year the number of female applicants is nearly the same as the number of male applicants. Earlier, the exam used to be notified in April, but this year, for the first time, it was notified in December and online applications were invited.”
He said the entrance exam was held at 32 centres in the country with 83 per cent attendance.
“Interviews and counselling sessions will be held in May and July 2013. They will be attended by around 10,000 students,” he said.
