News for Xbox fans
We had some huge developments and announcements this week. Microsoft has officially joined the next-gen console race and will be unveiling their new machine on the 21st of May, 2013. The next Xbox will reportedly have a built-in Kinect, a revamped Achievements mechanic and a DVR like video capture system. We also expect to see the next Forza, a game called Ryse by Crytek, a zombie game and a family game at the conference. Rumours have been going around for the past two-three months but nothing has been confirmed yet. Hopefully, this time we will get answers, especially regarding the issue of always-online and the lock on used games.
Another shocker this week came from 2K. The XCOM shooter which was reportedly canceled has been re-announced. It will now be a third-person tactical shooter and will be available on the 30th of August 2013. Hardcore XCOM fans understandably did not take kindly to this news, but there is still hope for the franchise. I’m looking forward to seeing what 2k does with this title, considering the last game they published was pretty good.
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is being developed by the same team behind BioShock 2. The game is set in the time period immediately after the Cold War, in 1962 America. While the government is busy living in fear of the Russians, aliens invade our home planet. We play as agent William Carter, a determined and resolute operative who will stop at nothing to get the job done. It will be released on the Xbox 360, PC and the PlayStation 3.
