Hami has got the ‘X Factor’
US President Barack Obama has joined a host of celebrities to offer support to American professional basketball star Jason Collins, who is the first active male player in the four major American professional sports to come out as gay. Obama reportedly told Collins that he was impressed by his courage, News. com.au reported.
Along with Obama, former president Bill Clinton, whose daughter Chelsea attended college at Stanford University with the NBA player, also backed him. Clinton stated that he hoped that everyone, particularly Collins’ colleagues in Lewis Hamilton has not requested Nicole Scherzinger to quit the X Factor, contrary to reports that the Formula One driver had asked his girlfriend to give up the role as a judge so they could spend more time together. It was reported earlier that Hamilton was worried he would miss Nicole too much if she signed on for another year. A source told the Sunday People:
“Lewis has said to Nicole this is going to be an awful situation and perhaps she shouldn’t do it. If he thought she had her heart set on returning he wouldn’t say this, but he knows she isn’t desperate to go back and thinks she would be happier if they were together. The source continued to comment: “Nicole is also worried she won’t see much of Lewis so it is a big factor that will deeply affect her decision.”
However, it appears that whatever decision Nicole will make will be down to her after a rep for Nicole simply told EntertainmentWise: “The story isn’t true”. the NBA, the media and his fans extend to him their support and respect.
Not only politicians, players and other celebrities also extended their support to Collins, as revealed by the tweet from Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant“Proud of @jasoncollins34. Don’t suffocate who u r because of the ignorance of others #courage #support # mambaar mys t a n d u p #BYOU.”
Praising Collins for his courage, tennis legend Martina Navratilova tweeted, “Hey Jason Collins-you are now an activist!!! And trust me, you will sleep a lot better now- freedom is a sweet feeling indeed!”
